Private Detective License Information

In the state of New Jersey, you may apply if you:

  • are at least 25 years old

  • possess at least 5 years of experience in private investigation, loss prevention detection or police officer

  • have proven record of a moral character and judgement within the industry

  • have no criminal history 

  • acceptable credit history

In the State of New Jersey, to obtain police report records, OPRA Requests forms must be filed out and given to the appropriate township or agency.
